4 X Mini
A brand that has really succeeded in showing diversity in innovation has to be Mini. When BMW took over the sinking ship, BMC/Rover, they realized that the Doghouse was an icon. BMW has really managed this heritage. Here we take a closer look at four of Mini's total of ten models.
Mini Cooper S - The classic "new" Mini.
The hatchback as it is called was the first Mini in the new format. It was launched in the early 2000s. The model was an immediate success. Just like its predecessor, a slightly sharper version was offered with the addition Cooper S. A supercharged machine with 184 horsepower, phenomenal road characteristics together with the compact format offers a lot of fun to drive. From standstill to 100 it takes the Cooper S just 7 seconds. Now the "hatch" is about to be replaced after twelve successful years, the replacement has just been launched at the time of reading. For those who want to make their Mini extra personal, there are a multitude of accessories both for the car and for the driver. How about a pair of trendy boots or matching bag with a unique Mini motif. Mini clearly shows that their brand is more than just a small car.
Mini Clubman – Mini maximal
For those who have outgrown their Mini and want to bring more things, the Mini Clubman can be the alternative.
As with the Hatch, the Clubman is not a new model, the original was launched in the 70s. The "new" Clubman saw the light of day in 2008. Simply described, the Clubman is a Mini Kombi. Despite its larger format, the Clubman is not adapted to be filled with the entire family. With practical doors that open towards each other on the passenger side and at the back, the interior dimensions are still small in comparison to most ordinary small cars. The cargo space is significantly larger than the Hatch and has a cargo volume of 260 liters and a whopping 930 liters with the seats folded down. The Clubman is offered with a number of engines, both thrifty diesels and lively petrol engines. As a top, a John Cooper Works with 211 horses. If you don't care about the rear seats, there is a version called Clubvan. A grille separates the cargo area from the front seats and the rear side windows have been replaced with sheet metal. Unfortunately, this model has not been able to get light truck status, which would have meant lower benefit taxation, something that would certainly have helped a lot in terms of sales.
Mini Paceman – A Mini with four-wheel drive.
Four-wheel drive and higher ground clearance are Paceman is a Mini adapted for tougher driving.
The latest model to be unveiled by Mini is the Paceman, a two-door version of the Countryman. Mini has chosen to give the model a completely new cover SAC, the Sports Activity Coupé. The Paceman can be had with either front or all-wheel drive. As a four-wheel version, they have chosen to call it All4. Despite its larger size, the Paceman is still a very fun car to drive. What sets the Paceman apart from other Mini models is the comfortable front seat with good forward visibility. The view to the rear suffers a little from the narrow lines at the back. Just like its siblings, Mini offers practical solutions for pairing smartphones, to follow your driving or play music. The longitudinal rail between the seats can also be filled with either mobile phone holders, glasses compartments, drink holders and more. In terms of engine, we also find here, like other Mini models, a range of options, with the John Cooper Works being the most powerful.
Mini John Copper Works Cabrio – Mini's mischievous hair dryer!
When the sun is shining it's always the most fun to drive without a roof, with the Mini John Cooper Works Cabrio this becomes even more fun!
Mini is already a car with go-kart-like driving experiences. If you cut the roof and trim the supercharged engine to 211 horses and put on a harder quarter and a sportier chassis, it becomes almost laughable to drive this Minin. 0-100 is completed in just 6.9 seconds and the top speed is 235 km/h. Exhaust fumes from the tailpipes in the back make it hard not to feel a little bit like a criminal when you're frolicking around winding roads or the city's heavy traffic. The folding roof has the clever design that it first becomes a sunroof before it folds down completely. The view to the rear suffers, however, as the roof obscures in field mode. If you don't need the seats in the back, there is a strictly two-seater version called the roadster. The base price of the Mini John Cooper Works Cabrio is SEK 327,000.
