The Chevrolet Corvette is arguably one of the most iconic sports cars from the great country of the West, the United States. When Chevrolet celebrated 70 years of the Corvette model, they took the opportunity to present this particular model, the Corvette C8 E-Ray. I had the pleasure of borrowing the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray for two sunny days from Exclusive Cars here in Stockholm, which is an authorised dealer for Corvette.

What makes the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray special is that it now has more power thanks to an electric motor. The Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray is a hybrid. In total, together with the 6.2-litre V8 engine in the car, the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray boasts a whopping 644 horsepower. That means you can accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometres per hour in just 2.5 seconds. These figures make the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray the fastest Corvette in acceleration ever.

Thanks to the electric motor powering the front wheels, the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray gets all-wheel drive, which is quite unique as the Corvette has always been strictly rear-wheel drive. Another positive thing that the electric motor offers is the so-called "stealth mode". This means you don't have to wake up the whole neighbourhood with a cold start of the V8 engine in the morning if you're heading out. Instead, you can sneak away entirely on electricity and at speeds of up to 72 km/h. The range in stealth mode is between 5 and 6 kilometres, so it's not about long journeys on electricity, in other words.

Even if you've chosen the coupé version of the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray and the sun is heating up a little extra, you can easily remove the hard top and put it in a special place at the back of the car. There it stays firmly and securely in place even when the road starts to curve. Speaking of roads that curve, I took the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray out to the classic Bogesundsvägen road outside Stockholm. It's a challenging road through the forest where you can get a feel for how the car behaves when the road turns properly. You'll have to keep an eye out, though, as this particular stretch of road is very popular with other motorists and motorcyclists. But I feel I have a pretty good handle on it.

Both exterior and interior we find a lot of use of carbon fibre - my favourite material if you ask me. Externally, we find a skirt at the bottom of the car made of carbon fibre. Inside, we find several different parts made of carbon fibre. For example, parts on the steering wheel and around the dashboard. Along the centre console where you'll find the gear selector, the driving mode control, the place where you can put cups and bottles under a lid, and all the buttons for the AC. It's a real treat to look at if you like carbon fibre as much as I do.

Speaking of something people like to look at, it's Corvettes. Especially younger guys and older men. They get something joyful and loving in their eyes when you drive up. It's not uncommon to get a comment like, "cool car!" if given the opportunity. Fun I can only admit, and something I understand that you are happy about as a Corvette owner.

Going back to how the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray behaves on the road, I refer to the Bogesund road, which I have driven on very many times, both with cars and motorcycles. As a side story, I can mention that I was driving on the very Bogesund road with the BMW M 1000 RR motorbike I was with in my motorcycle accident. In fact, today, 22 August 2025, three years ago to the day. Had the accident happened there, I would have realised that I had driven beyond my competence. Now the accident happened on a motorway exit in a completely different place. The actual cause of the accident remains a mystery, but there was no evidence of negligence.

In any case, the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray was extremely pleasant to drive on the Bogesund road. It smoothed its way through all the curves with full control. I stopped by the water at Jordbrodammen, which is almost halfway along Bogesundsvägen, and took a picture of the car in the same place as I took a picture of the BMW M 1000 RR motorbike.

If you want to insist on having the convertible version, you will have to pay 2,394,000 SEK, while the coupé version will be yours for about 2,330,000 SEK. In my world and with the Swedish weather, the coupé version is more than enough, even if you have to remove the roof manually.

After my days with the Chevrolet Corvette C8 E-Ray, I feel like this is pretty much sports car for the money. Add to that an icon status you actually get when you buy a Chevrolet Corvette. The fact that it also runs partly on electricity and is four-wheel drive feels very good. A more politically correct Chevrolet Corvette for our Swedish weather simply.
