The Urban EV concept looked really promising and now I've finally had the opportunity to test drive the little candy car Honda e for real. I fell like crazy, but with a caveat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I stick my chin out and claim that this is an icon in the making. Honda has spared no expense, neither when it comes to design nor technology. Or no, they have saved on one thing: the range. But we will return to that later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tons of spy shots<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Urban EV concept looked really promising and now I've finally had the opportunity to test drive the little candy car Honda e for real. I fell like crazy, but with a caveat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small electric car from Honda was the talk of the town even before the curtain was lifted at the Frankfurt Motor Show just over a year ago. By then, amounts of spy photos and rumors had abounded for two years and there was an expectant audience waiting for what was hiding under the covers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first thing that strikes you about the Honda e is its diminutive size and exciting shapes. It's cute and feels like a little Pokemon. It really attracts attention and many people turn around when you drive by. Of course, the test car's neon yellow color did not make matters worse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameras with monitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Honda e is a cute charmer on the surface, but it's when you step inside that the really cool stuff begins. The car is completely packed with new technology and makes luxury German premium cars seem spartan. All rear-view mirrors are replaced by cameras with monitors. The inner one, however, can be flipped so that it becomes a normal analogue mirror. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full length of the dashboard from left to right is a monitor. Everything is controlled here and you can choose a background image from either pre-loaded or your own images. In the right part of the screen in front of the front seat passenger, he has access to a series of settings that the person can control during the journey. In addition to the USB input and traditional cigarette socket, there is also an HDMI input and a 230 volt power socket so you can plug in your video game. You can of course connect your phone wirelessly to, for example, Apple CarPlay and the sound system is above what can be expected from this small car. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Famous five crowns.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On the road, the Honda e also impresses, but not to the same extent as in appearance and technology. What impresses the most is the turning radius. With full steering wheel travel, the front wheels are almost at ninety degrees and you can basically turn the famous five-crown. On the other hand, the speed experience could have been a little snappier and, above all, the range should have been longer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The range is the biggest problem for the Honda e and it is noticeable that this is a car adapted to be driven mainly inside the city. With calm and composed driving, you will get a maximum of 20 miles. With a little more active driving in the city and on the highway, it did not even manage 12 miles. It's too little when there isn't a normal engine that can save the situation and step in when the electricity runs out. We really have to hope an upgrade with better range comes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Charm troll with technology<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On the whole, the Honda e is a charmer with technology in abundance. If it weren't for the limited range, I would have given it a full thumbs up and probably bought one myself. Because you get really happy every time you see and jump into it. And those are feelings I like to experience in the car that will be mine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
