Porsche 911 Turbo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there is a car model that probably needs no further presentation, it is the Porsche 911. A classic sports car built on an old concept. Actually an outdated concept with a so-called tail engine placed behind the rear axle. But thanks to Porsche pumping in money and engineering hours, they have managed to modernize the concept and make the 911 better with each generation. Every time a new generation of Porsche 911 is presented, it is almost as fast as the worst and most tuned version of the previous generation. A very impressive feat, to say the least.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a motoring journalist and photographer, I am often asked which car is the best and which one would I choose if I could only choose one. Obviously a difficult question to answer because there are so many cars I dream of owning. But if I have to think realistically and choose a car that will be fast around the N\u00fcrburgring and fun to drive every day, summer and winter in our long country, then the Porsche 911 Turbo is in a class of its own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 911 Turbo that is at my disposal this time is in a shimmering blue color that brings to mind the sea on a hot summer day. It sparkles in the paint when the sun hits the surface, just like when the sun sparkles on the waves. The leather interior is cream-colored with black accents and silver details. Tasty and sober in a perfect combination. I quickly find my place because everything is placed in such a way that you as the driver should have one hundred percent <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood at the back lurks a jewel with roots far back in Porsche's history. It is a six-cylinder engine of the boxer type, i.e. an engine where the cylinders lie flat in a horizontal position. The English name "flat six" describes very well how the engine is constructed. The characteristic sound of the boxer engine always brings a smile to my face and this car, just as the name gossips, is also equipped with a turbo. Or, two turbo units to be more precise. The total power you get out of this jewel is 580 horsepower. There is also an S version with a breathtaking 650 horses. However, I can promise that the regular 911 Turbo model without S and "only" 580 horses is more than enough every day of the week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Driving a 911 Turbo really feels special. Almost everyone who knows what a car is, knows what a Porsche is. If you have a little knowledge of Porsche's models, it doesn't take much to distinguish a 911 from the rest. If you have an eye on the different versions available for the 911, you know what the person who drives it with the Turbo extension has access to under his right foot. In just 2.8 seconds you reach 100 kilometers per hour with the feeling that every cell in your body is being moved backwards by the acceleration. If you continue to hold the pedal down, you will reach 200 after just 9.7 seconds. Only when the meter needle stops at 320 kilometers per hour have you reached top speed. All this happens with extreme force, but at the same time incredibly well-balanced and calm. Porsche has really succeeded in making the 911 Turbo a useful super sports car!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But why is the Porsche 911 Turbo such a perfect car to drive every day, all year round? For starters, it's an iconic model that makes my heart beat a little extra hard when I look at it. A classic design that never goes out of date. The 911 Turbo is as fast as few, something the model has always been and thus it has stood up to the Italian super sports cars without having to be ashamed of itself. But while you can drive really fast laps around the classic N\u00fcrburgring and travel along the Autobahn at express speed, you can drive the 911 Turbo relatively sparingly when it comes to fuel consumption if you're easy on the gas. Something that becomes difficult with the Italian competitors who rarely have fewer than eight cylinders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our elongated country, there is not a summer climate all year round, and in the worst case, a winter climate can prevail for up to six months even in Stockholm. No problem for the 911 Turbo, which is both four-wheel drive and built for cold climates. The Germans know what quality is and therefore a 911 Turbo will last several times longer than its southern European competitors. If the need requires, you can also travel four people in a 911 Turbo. However, for the best comfort, the rear passengers should not be of basketball pro height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With well-proven technology, Porsche time and again pushes the boundaries of its iconic model. And as long as they do, the Porsche 911 Turbo will continue to be the car of choice if I could only choose one car to drive year round, around the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
