With new Mazda<\/a> With the CX-6e, Mazda takes a clear step forward in its electric commitment. As a brand-new model in the brand's growing EV programme, the CX-6e is positioned as a mid-size SUV where design, driving feel and technology meet in a more expressive and refined whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mazda themselves describe the model as one of the most artistic interpretations of the design philosophy Kodo \u2013 Soul of Motion<\/a>, where clean lines and athletic proportions create a car that stands out in an otherwise rather homogeneous segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electric drivetrain with a focus on balance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CX-6e builds on Mazda's electrical development, something I previously looked at in more detail in my Article about the Mazda 6e<\/a>, where the brand's new generation of electric cars is taking shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beneath the shell sits a 78 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 484 kilometres according to WLTP. The drive is to the rear wheels, with an electric motor producing 258 horsepower and 290 Nm, resulting in a 0\u2013100 km\/h time of 7.9 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast charging of up to 195 kW means the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 24 minutes, placing the CX-6e competitively in its segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mazda has also placed great importance on retaining its classic driving philosophy, Jinba Ittai \u2013 the feeling of oneness between driver and car \u2013 even in a fully electric context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design \u2013 Kodo in a new electric interpretation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Externally, the CX-6e is a clear evolution of Mazda's design language. The front is dominated by the brand's characteristic \u201csignature wing,\u201d now with a sequential light signature that activates on locking, unlocking, and charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clean surfaces are combined with aerodynamic details such as digital side mirrors and air ducts in the D-pillars, which affect both the look and the efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mazda CX-6e also felt incredibly tight and very sporty, not least thanks to its aerodynamic details. On the C-pillar, there are aerodynamic channels that help to direct airflow along the body. Even the digital side mirrors, which replace traditional mirrors with cameras, help to reduce air resistance while also enhancing the car's modern appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A similar airflow is also found at the front \u2013 where an engine would normally sit. As mentioned, there is no engine under the bonnet here, but instead an opening that allows air to pass through the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proportions \u2013 with a long wheelbase and short overhangs \u2013 give the car a more dynamic stance than many competitors, while the load space of up to 1,434 litres shows that functionality has not been compromised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior inspired by Japanese philosophy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Inside, Mazda draws inspiration from the concept of 'ma' \u2013 the art of creating harmony through emptiness. The result is a calm and uncluttered cabin where material choices and lighting play a central role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A panoramic glass roof covering over a square metre lets in plenty of light, while a 26-inch wide screen stretches across the dashboard, consolidating the car's functions into a visually clean interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CX-6e also introduces several new features to Mazda's model range. Gesture and voice control make it possible to operate the car without taking your eyes off the road, while individual speakers in the headrests provide a more personal audio experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Via an app, the user can control charging and functions remotely, and special driving modes adapt the car to different everyday situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's noticeable that Mazda hasn't just focused on range and performance, but also on how the car is actually used in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
