With a pace that few other car brands can keep up, Volkswagen is replenishing its SUV program with another model. Cars Collection was on hand in Amsterdam when the new T-Cross model was unveiled.

With great fanfare, the new small SUV was presented in Amsterdam in a converted factory in an area known as ”Suger City”. The reason for the name is that sugar was previously produced in these factory buildings. Now the raw premises house events and club arrangements.

That Volkswagen puts so much powder on such a small model is not so strange, it is these so-called volume models from which the brand makes the most money. In addition, SUVs are predicted to be the absolute best-selling car model in the coming year. On stage, and to get some extra buzz, actress Cara Delevingne helped introduce the T-Cross.

The idea with the new model is to fill a place at the bottom of the SUV segment and below the T-Roc model. In order for the models not to cannibalize customers, the T-Cross will not be available with four-wheel drive like the T-Roc, but only with front-wheel drive.

Just like other SUVs from Volkswagen, the T-Cross has a lot of attitude and a look that should stand out

In terms of size, the T-Cross is 12 centimeters shorter than the T-Roc, but something that is barely noticeable inside the T-Cross, which has plenty of space both in the back and also in the trunk. In addition to being able to slide the back seat 14 centimeters front and back, there is another practical solution for getting long objects into the car. It is possible to fold the passenger seat forward so that you can get things in all the way to the dashboard.

Just like other SUVs from Volkswagen, the T-Cross has a lot of attitude and a look that should stand out. The massive grill is very reminiscent of the Touareg, which is the largest of the siblings, which is of course no coincidence.

In order to make the T-Cross really attractive, in addition to the number of engine options and high technical level, the safety systems that are normally only found higher up in the segment have also been included. To name a few, the T-Cross has Blind Spot Sensor with Rear Traffic Alert.

As standard, the T-Cross also gets the Front Assist neighborhood monitoring with Pedestrian Monitoring (pedestrian recognition) and City Emergency Brake (autobrake), lane keeping assistant Lane Assist, Hill Start Assist for easier starting on hills, proactive passenger protection systems, fatigue warning and adaptive cruise control. Everything to make the journey as safe as possible for the driver, passengers and other road users.

The T-Cross comes with a number of equipment packages and in Sweden they will offer the T-Cross and T-Cross GT. An R-line version will also be available, which will have a slightly sportier exterior appearance. In addition, you can put your own stamp on the car thanks to a design package that includes a number of exterior and interior color choices as well as colored enamel on the rims, which can be had in either 17 or 18 inches.

Volkswagen’s SUV offensive is very clear, and with the T-Cross you ring in yet another place in a safe way. There is no doubt that the T-Cross will be a big seller and definitely a big competitor to the other brands that are fighting for buyers. To spice things up, a cabriolet version of the T-Cross is also rumored to appear in time for next summer.
